Cambodia is one of the best destinations I have been
to. It may be a poor, corrupt, barren country, but it has the most amazing
people I’ve ever known, long history, tasty food, beautiful beaches, and a
lively night. Cambodia is a country still trying to develop by their own ways.
Development is not good, because of corrupt officials. They have sold off most
of the country to investors. But through my time here, I always fall in love with this country truly
and can’t introduce it enough to everyone I meet. It always amazes you. This Cambodia
guide can help you plan your holiday.
The best of Cambodia
Angkor Wat – The most famous temple complex of
Cambodia is the reason most people come to Cambodia. The temples are so
massive, and you can’t discover all of them in a few days. There are more sites
to the country than this famous site (many people only know about Angkor), your
trip is incomplete without visiting Tomb Raider and exploring these ruins.
Tongle Sap – going along this river allows you to look
totally about Cambodian life. It is tied to the waterway. You can take a boat to
explore it in a day trip.
Sihanoukville – White sand and sunshine beaches,
nearby bleak islands, good diving, surprising seafood, and a lively nightlife
filled with cheap alcohol make this place be a favorite site for visitors. This
place was once a very poor town, but has become a favorite town for
backpackers. It’s not a silent place to hang out, but it is wonderful place to
drink or use as a site to visit the nearby islands, which are quiet and scenery.
Phnom Penh –the capital city of Cambodia, this place
has a wild west style with dusty and smoke in atmosphere. There are not many
good attractions to visit and an up-and-coming foodie vibe to the city. Since
the lake destroyed everything, most of the activities have moved to the river.
Bamboo Island – Located in the coast of
Sihanoukville, Bamboo Island is a wonderful place to relax, it takes just 10
minutes to cross. Here, the highlight is the special local culture–if you want
to know the locals, let try your hand at Khmer, and join in the traditional
Cambodian dance.
Kep – This beautiful beach is the quiet
Sihanoukville version, a good place to vacation near the ocean without the
party atmosphere like to Sihanoukville. This city is well-known for pepper crab
and deserted beaches. There’s not many things to do here, so it also makes for
a good trip if you don’t like the idea of doing too much.
Bokor National Park – Go along the French ruins
while walking a great rainforest. Bokor was a wonderful destination for the
French aristocracy back after working, and you can see the ruins of their
homes. It takes a day from Sihanoukville or nearby Kampot.
